..... Despite the weather, 2011 proved to be a successful fly-in overall. We had several rare aircraft, including a 1928 Stinson Detroiter and a 1936 Lockheed 12A. We had a total of 110 aircraft registered, though in past years we have been averaging around 300. FAA's Billy Hattaway delivered his FAAST team program to a standing-room-only crowd in the terminal conference room. We also had a lot of campers; everyone who came supported the Thomasville Aviation Club-sponsored meals and helped us financially to have a break-even year -- thank you for your support! |

The
candy drop is always the highlight of the event for the many kids who attend
the fly-in. Many drive in with their parents from the local area and
get their first exposure to general aviation with us. It is always
amazing to
A new and well-received activity this year was the addition of Friday night's Mega Movies double-feature under the stars. Thanks, Karen, for visiting us in Thomasville with your outdoor big-screen theatre system -- we look forward to enjoying movies again next! .... |
